Reviewed version - Fansubbed Italian/French DVD
The famous gunfighter Hud returns to find out what really happened to his brother, who was accused of a robbery and lynched by the townspeople. The bank money is also missing.
Filmed in the alps, starring a French actor who only made one western. A sheriff in a central role. A wounded hero in the finale and directed by Corbucci. The connections to The Great Silence are obvious. There was also two different endings for this one but the more happy one works better and is longer.
Some people might find it hard to digest that a Western is filmed in the Alps. The Alps actually make a fine Nevada, where the movie is set (Reads on the Blackstone water tank). It's a very beautiful landscape and I wish more Westerns would have been shot there. What troubles me some is the Mexican revoutionary bandit gang. They seem a bit far from home.
Great story, scenery and action makes this a very nice Spaghetti Western.
